The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamta Banerjee, announced this remarkable housing initiative called West Bengal Banglar Bari Scheme in December 2024, aiming to provide housing opportunities for all the citizens who come from economically weaker households across the state. According to this scheme, the Government aims to provide financial help of 1.2 Lakh to all the citizens who come from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Lower Income Groups (LIG) so that they can start the construction of their own house. As per the reports, the Government has aimed to provide financial assistance to 12 Lakh families across the state, and the Government has allocated a total budget of 14,400 Crores for the distribution of the second installment under this initiative.

Second Installment Funds Released under Banglar Bari Housing Scheme
On May 20, 2025, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamta Banerjee has announced that the Authorities will provide financial assistance of INR 1.2 Lakh in two installments to over 13 Lakh families who come from EWS % LIG categories. The Authorities have released the 1st installment last year, and now the Government has allocated funds to release the Banglar Bari Housing Scheme 2nd Installment. As per the reports stated by the Government, the Authorities have allocated a financial budget of INR 14,400 Crores for the distribution of the second installment. All those citizens who were eligible and got selected under this scheme will get the benefits of the second installment soon.
